Today is the Dover Race and the 3rd race of the chase!
Barb, Henry, Lizzy and I have been to Dover twice now. Dover is a great place to watch a race in person...very easy to get in and out of and if you get seats in the corners you can see the entire track. The first time we went we were halfway to our car when the sky opened up and poured on us...all 4 of us were drenched and we had long rides ahead.
Last year we were fortunate enough to use John Noland's beach house in Bethany so we got to spend some extra time there. Barb and I drove to Gail/Kyle's on Friday, spent the night with them and then drove to Bethany on Saturday morning. Henry, Lizzy, Cathy and Dave Knowlton drove to their son's house in Delaware on Friday then to Bethany on Saturday morning also. Tom and Darlene are only an hour or so away so they drove in the day of the race.
The race was great but it was cold!! Henry Sr. also won tickets for two people to attend driver introductions. Now since I am the favorite child he choose me to attend with him. It was really something pretty cool that I have never been able to do before. In one of the pictures you will see a bunch of people in orange shirts that is us and we were the 1st two as they came down the stairs. Darlene was not very happy when we got to the seats and told her that we actually got to touch Jimmie Johnson!! Of course we continued to rub it in all day! Tom I think you might have to extend a Hall Pass if Darlene ever gets to meet Jimmie.
Anyway Barb and I stayed around for a couple of days to visit some of our old beach stomping grounds (Ocean City, MD) from when we were in our early 20's. Barbara would go to Ocean City a lot during high school also. The Green Turtle was one of our bar hangouts and the other is the Ocean City board walk.
Fun times!
