Well depending on where you live it is almost time to hunt...
I have not done a lot of hunting over the years but there was a time about 8-10 years ago I used to hunt quite a bit with customers in Alabama. We would go to this old whore house from the late 1800's. The story goes that they would bring the men up the Alabama River on boats and then take them by horse and buggy to the house. There is another story that a young girl could not take that life style and she jumped to her death out the 3rd story window...while that is sad they say that her ghost is still in the 3rd story bedroom...well guess where I had to sleep my first trip down there!! It is a great old house and perfect for housing 10 guys or so while they hunt...unfortunately the whores are all gone!
There is a family that takes care of the place and all the acres attached to it. His wife and her mother do all the cooking and it is outstanding...full course home cooked meals including desserts! They also had some great kids that would drive you and help you with your deer/hogs.
A typical day would be up at 5am, light breakfast then off to the woods. They would drop you off on the side of the road (dirt tore up over-sized path that they called a road) and tell you to shine your flashlight at the trees and look for the reflectors which were the size of thumb tacks. When you don't see anymore reflectors look up and you should see your tree stand. Well let me tell you that doesn't work all the time and there were several occasions that I just sat down and waited for sunlight! BTW do you know how dark it is in the woods by the Alabama River and yes the movie does pop into your mind!!
Around 10am you walk out to the road and they pick you up. Then you go back and eat lunch, take a nap and go back out around 3pm. The afternoon hunt is always in a shooting house which are those black hard plastic things you see stores selling...pretty comfortable especially if you get a double wide. The afternoon hunt is where I have had most of my luck. I think I only killed one deer in the morning?? They would come back to pick you up at dark. We would then take showers, eat and tell lies about our day.
Again some great times and memories except the night I couldn't sleep thinking about the ghost!
