NY visit...our favorite restaurants!

For those of you that are from this area or have traveled here you know that there are some great local restaurants here and if you really know our family you know that Consol's tops the list!

Consol's in Endicott, NY

Consol's has a long history but I will try to give you the brief version.  As with all my stories, what you are about to hear is the way that I remember it...not necessarily the exact truth!

Back in the day there was a pizza place by where my Dad worked called Duff's.  My Dad and several of his work buddies would eat lunch there quite often and sometimes he would even take my Mom to dinner there.  Well as the years went on Uncle Duff retired and the restaurant closed in 1982.  Several years later (1989) Duff's nephew Jimmy Consol bought the business and opened it up as Consol's.

My Dad heard through some guys at work about this pizza place and as he asked more questions he found out it was the old Duff's.  Starting that next Friday night and every Friday night since, when they are in town they go for "Beer & Pizza"!

In 2005 Jimmy & Teri moved to Charlotte, NC and opened up a similar place here called Zio's which is Italian for Uncle!.  We go there to eat quite a bit but not every Friday since it is about a 30 minute drive for us.  Whenever my parents visit or our Vestal group gets together Zio's is our place of choose.

Our other favorites include The Terrace Tavern and Harry Tuft's.
