Stephanie Birthday Week

As some of you know I worried about Stephanie even getting out of high school...

You are about to hear one of my famous stories I tell about Stephanie when she got suspended in high school.  I was always a big believer in the kids had to be in school no matter what so when report cards came I looked at attendance then looked at the grades.  Well it was a little tougher job with Stephanie then the boys.

Anyway back to the story...as you can imagine Stephanie pushed the envelope on many things but this story is about her dress code.  The school had a rule that if you wore a dress it had to be no shorter then your finger tips when your arms were straight down.  If you know Stephanie you know she is known for her larger then life butt.  Well one day the dress she wore was fine in the front but not in the back...because of her larger then life butt.  So when the teacher said it was unacceptable and she had enough warnings so now Stephanie would have a 2 day suspension!  Well rather then keep her mouth shut, because there is no doubt in my mind she knew she was wrong, she proceeded to tell the teacher what she thought of the rule, the school and her!  You guessed it the teacher added on an additional 3 days of suspension.  I was not a happy camper and restrictions were put in place.

So the week goes by and let me tell you it was a quiet week in the house and we were sitting at the dinner table on Friday night when Stephanie says to Barbara...are we still going shopping tomorrow?  I said SHOPPING and she said well yes I have to get my Back to School clothes!!

I couldn't keep it in at that point and started laughing hysterically...all was right in the world again!

As it turned out she graduated, went on to college and earned a degree in one of the toughest fields....Nursing!  She still has that famous butt and as a matter of fact is pretty proud of it!

Stephanie are you sure you still want to celebrate your birthday week...I have a thousand stories!

Happy Birthday.

  1. True Story, to be sure...BUT you got one person wrong...it wasn't the teacher she talked back to it was MS Shupin, the PRINCIPAL! She wasn't used to anyone questioning her let alone a student in front of the cafeteria for all to see & hear. But then, as with her wonderful father of the 12 months of our 30th year, she does things in a BIG way! Love ya both, Happy Birtday..almost, ~Barbara (m0m)

  2. I remember that story well and yes Stephanie even Princess's get in trouble but it didn't seem to faze you at all. I also laughed about the "back to school clothes". Only 2 more days and we celebrate your birthday and the fabulous young woman you have become despite all your tribulations!! I also remember your Mom made you be a altar server & remember how you hated that?? I do. Gotta think Shawn might have some influence on you along with your parents. Great story Henry..enjoyed it. We Love You Steph :-)

  3. I can hear Steph now, " but but but the dress wasn't too short". Yes, the Princess has turned out to be delightful young lady and it's hard to imagine she will be turning 27 so soon.

Are you going to include the story from her trip with us in the motorhome when she decided "it wasn't working out and she wanted to be flown home right now"? Gerry and I still get a chuckle about that and how 3 days later she was crawling around Mammoth Caves in one of my good t-shirts and having the time of her life. Well, that is another story.
