Images of Christmas Past #14

Well kids I always tell people that we are fortunate that all your grandparents are healthy enough to travel.  This really comes in handy at Christmas because your Grandparents Hagadorn always come here a day or two after Christmas vs. us going there.  It is usually a quick trip because they like to be home for New Year's Eve.

They have been doing this trip ever since Ryan was born and have only miss it if the weather is bad which if my memory is correct that would have only been 1 or 2 times in the last 28 years!

For many years they would send all your gifts down ahead of time which was also a blessing because we were so poor if they didn't there wouldn't be much under the tree!

As you got older they started bringing the presents with them along with a prime rib roast!  We now have a big dinner together and then open presents.

So if you think about it you celebrated Christmas the weekend before at your Grandparents Clark, you celebrated on Christmas day with us and you celebrated a day or two after with your Grandparents Hagadorn!  It's a good thing I wasn't OCD back then...3 days of messes might have drove me to drink...

Below are some pictures from 2004 and 2008 visits.  Another great tradition that I hope you appreciate as much as your mother and I do.

  1. I agree we have the best parents ever BUT they are FABULOUS grandparents. I think our kids never saw the Mom/Dad that we did growing up - they are pushovers when it comes to their grandkids. Our kids and us are very lucky to have parents that want to be involved in our lives. Just make sure YOU send them back in the same condition that we sent to them you!

  2. As our kids know by now...except David who was supposed to call us at 10 & never did. Probably having too much Christmas fun. Anyway, this was probably the WORST trip ever. Took us 14 1/2 hours. Hit snow-ice & sleet from MD to lower VA. Saw over 50 accidents...luckily none with us. One Christmas trip we surely won't forget. Now on to all the fun with the NC family. My Christmas wish is clear dry roads all the way home. Can't wait for the roast beef dinner & open gifts with everyone.

  3. I always loved traditions, HOWEVER, I never appreciated them as much as I do now!! FAMILY is everything! Spending the weekend before with Parents/Grandparents Clark & the rest was always wonderful....sorry it ended, but the memories are great! Christmas here has ALWAYS been here with the kids...priceless! The day or two after always was greatly anticipated with Parents/Grandparents Hagadorn! We are truly blessed to have such a loving, giving, and caring family! Children, you have amazing Grandparents who we were able to learn from to bring you up so well! So proud of our parents and children!! Love Mom/Barbara Thanks Henry for all the pics this year to document our amazing lives and families and friends!
