30th Anniversary year comes to an end!

Well kids as you know your mother and I celebrated 30 years of marriage this year and to mark the occasion we decided last fall that 2012 was going to be all about us! 

Our plan was every month we would have a date night...dinner and a movie out on the town.  Now for some of you that might just seem normal but for us it was a treat! 

Your mother also kept dropping big hints...actually "hints" is an understatement...she told me on several occasions that she wanted to go on a big anniversary trip but what she didn't know is I had another plan in mind.

We were married on August 7, 1982 so on the 7th of each month I planned on giving her a gift...as you will see sometimes they were big and sometimes they were small.  Remember pearl is the 30 year anniversary tradition.

January's gift was a necklace that had a pearl charm on it.  Date night was dinner at Carrabba's and the movie was Mission Impossible III

 

 

 

February's gift was perfume.  Date night was dinner at Chili's and the movie was Contraband

 

 

March was a gift certificate to a Spa for 3 treatments.  Date night was dinner at Christopher's and the movie was Acts of Valor

 

 

 

April's gift was tickets to the show "Stomp" and date night was dinner at Schmidt's & McCormick's...no movie this month

 

 

 

May's gift was a Mother's Ring with all the kids birth stones.  No date night this month!

 

June's gift was tickets to the Cold Play Concert.  Again no date night this month but we did go to The Outback before the concert

 

 

 

July's gift was flowers delivered to her work.  No date night once again

 

 

 

 

August's gift was a string of Pearl's which she got to open in front of a crowd at our 30th anniversary party.  Date night was dinner at Hawthorne's and The Expendables was the movie

 

 

 

 

September's gift was tickets to an Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) concert in Durham.  Date night was dinner at Outback and the movie was Hit & Run

 

 

 

October's gift was a Coach purse and wallet.  Date night was dinner at PF Chang's and the movie was Taken 2

 

 

 

November's gift was a Panther's jersey with her favorite player Greg Olsen.  Date night was dinner at On the Border and the movie was Skyfall

 

 

 

 

 

December's gift was a Shopping Spree.  Date night was dinner at Bonefish Grill and the movie was Red Dawn

We had a fun year except for those few months that we missed out on date night.  It was pretty special to see your mother open her gifts each month but now the celebration is over and so is the gift giving!  I am not sure if your mother will make it to our 60th but as you know I plan on living till 105 so I will be around.  Of course at that age I will have to come up with some "stay in the house" gifts!

I do plan on keeping the date night going in 2013 and you guys are welcome to join us any month you would like to.
