We started this tradition to make sure that you could experience all the things you do in the snow since we usually didn't get much snow. Each year we would keep our fingers crossed that there would be snow on the ground and somehow your grandparents pulled it off...sometimes we would arrive to nothing and then they got it to drop 8"!
The weekend was crazy busy as you can imagine. We always went to Consol's on Friday night then your grandmother would get wings & pizza from the Vestal Diner on Saturday night and then on Sunday she would always cook a big meal!

All your cousins would come for the entire weekend to join in on sleigh riding and fun in the snow...sometimes people even made snow angels, right Mike? Since Sean's birthday was so close we would always have a celebration there and then another one at home.

Like many things as time went on you had to grow up, get jobs and go off to college so this tradition faded away. Now your mother and I try to go in February for the Daytona race.
Great fun, great food and great memories!
If we got that much snow the schools would be out for 3 months! Since you said no to taking me to Disney can we go to New York to go sledding next Martin Luther weekend?!
ReplyDeleteOMG Taylor he told you NO....what kind of father-in-law is he. You don't need to ask his permission you come see us whenever you want. Now that I have a snow blower I WANT more storms... I think that is probably the last time I went sledding...even if I went then.
ReplyDeleteThose were the good ol' days!!!!
