National Zoo 1987

Well kids there is a great zoo in DC that also was closed due to the government shut down the last couple of weeks but now that the government has reopened so has the zoo.

This zoo is known world wide because of it's Panda exhibit and over the years there have been births and deaths with the Panda's.  No matter what happens it always makes the news.  Panda's are a fascinating animal and everyone loves them.  When a Panda is born it only weighs 3oz-5oz and is about the size of a stick of butter.  A full grown Panda will weigh 225-250lbs!

As far as I can remember we visited the zoo twice...once in 1987 and once in 1993.  Today's blog are the pictures from 1987 and include Tom & Darlene who went with us.  Of course in 1987 Sean and Jared weren't even born yet.  What I do remember about this day is it was extremely hot!!  I will show the 1993 ones tomorrow.

 I know this is hard to believe but Uncle Tom was 36 and Auntie was 37 in this picture!

 

There is something about a zoo that draws you to them but once you are there you can't wait for it to be over...at least me...but the national zoo should be on your Bucket List!!
