Well those of you that have been around for a while know that the Apple Fest is a Clark tradition and one of Barbara & Gerry's favorite things to do. Although in recent years because of RV travels they haven't been able to attend as much. It is always the first 2 weekends in October.
It was usual a great weekend when we did go. We would all pile into the cabin and since the weather was usually cooler we would have fires outside which our piro kids loved. Anyone that was close by would always make an effort to come to the cabin and/or the Apple Fest...Tom, Darlene, Cassie, Larry, Robbie, Lee, Randy and so on.
I'm not sure if I remember all the things at the Apple Fest but here is what I do remember...
1. Lots of arts & crafts
2. Always had a whole hog they were cooking somewhere
3. Pony rides for the kids
4. Train ride through the woods
5. Saw mill demonstration making shingles
6. Antique Car show
7. Lots of food
8. First time I heard the song Achy Breaky Heart! Unfortunately!!
9. Sometimes pretty muddy
10. Live Bands
11. Petting Zoo
12. Buying more Apple Butter then we ever ate
13. Building our own scarecrow which lasted for years
A lot of good memories. You can check it out at the site below.
There are a lot of apple orchard's in this area too which are interesting themselves to go through. It is close by Gettysburg so there is plenty to do in the area and certainly should be on your bucket list. Larry and Gerry are always open to company so give them a call!! Oh wait they are out west...
BTW if you were wondering if Barbara was in a 70's hair band she wasn't but she could have been with that hair style in picture #48
In case you want to sign along!
You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes when I'm gone
Or you can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can burn my clothes when I'm gone
Or you can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can tell my arms to go back onto the phone
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more
But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man
Ooo
You can tell your ma I moved to Arkansas
Or you can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff who's fist can tell my lips
He never really liked me anyway
Or you can tell your dog to bite my leg
Or tell your brother Cliff who's fist can tell my lips
He never really liked me anyway
Oh tell your Aunt Louise, tell anything you please
Myself already knows that I'm okay
Oh you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
It might be walking out on me today
Myself already knows that I'm okay
Oh you can tell my eyes to watch out for my mind
It might be walking out on me today
But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
