On Tuesday morning we woke to a dusting of unexpected snow! I had to do some market work in Syracuse so my Dad rode along with me. Tuesday night my Mom cooked lasagna and we relaxed at their house...in bed by 9pm!! Yahoooo.
On Wednesday morning I had to go to Rhode Island for a meeting so I left around 9am and headed that way. My meeting was actually in Fall River, MA at the Gold Medal Bakery. They had a great location right on the Mt. Hope Bay. They have been there since 1912.
I spent the night in Rhode Island since that was a state that I had not slept in so on Sunday I colored it in and I have now slept in 28 states!
Thursday I drove to Middletown, NY (4 hours from RI) for a meeting and then drove back to my parents house. Thursday night we ate at Harry Tuft's with the Knowlton's, Cody, Joe, Kara, Donna and Mike. The food was excellent as always...BTW I order the rib eye sandwich every time so that is all I know!
Around 7am Hostess Brands announced that they were going out of business. As most of you know I spent 28 years with Hostess and they were great to our family. We were able to raise our 4 kids, send them to college, buy nice houses, travel the country and save some money. I left in May for another job opportunity so I feel pretty lucky but there is a lot of people that I have worked with for years that lost their jobs. I talked to a lot of them over the past few days and most are really struggling with what to do next. Pretty sad.
The Knowlton's also welcomed their 2nd grandchild on Friday morning...Abby. Mom, Dad and Abby are all doing well...Congrats to them and Cathy & Dave.
A high school friend, Tari Ede reached out to me earlier in the week and we set up to have lunch on Friday. Unlike Carol I never slept with Tari but I was told at lunch that I sure tried a few times...oops! I do have a ton of stories and memories about the good times that we spent together but I will save them for another POD. I will say that when we moved to Apalachin in 1973 the first 2 friends I met were Tari and Quinn Monahan. Tari took me under her wing and help me adjust to a new school and new friends. So as I was thinking about meeting her for lunch I realized that she is probably one of my oldest friends.
Debbie Thomas also joined us for lunch so we had double the stories to tell. Debbie lived down the street from me and moved to Apalachin in 10th grade. We quickly became close friends and for a couple years we were inseparable. Again I have a ton of stories but unfortunately they have more about me then I do them so since this blog is for my kids I will keep my mouth shut!
It was great to see both of them and our lunch turned into a 3 hour chat and then a trip to my parents house to see them. Hopefully now that we have reconnected I will do a better job with staying in touch. Here are a couple pictures from back in the day!
Carol and Debbie always wanting to kiss on me!

Friday evening my parents and I met Sandy for dinner at Consol's.
After dinner we all went back to their house and Donna joined us. We chatted for a couple hours and then said good bye and good night.
I woke up at 4am tossed and turned for about 15 minutes so I got up, showered and was on the road at 4:55am. Easy trip back and as with all my trips/vacations....good to go and good to be back!
Thanks Mom & Dad for all you did this week!
Have a good turkey week!
Its always great to see you and we always have a good time. BUT I will say that I missed Barb and wish she could have come. Next time I think you will HAVE to bring her with you somehow!
