Rick's Cafe

Since cold weather is fast approaching I thought it would be good to post a warm place that we visited in April!  As some of you know we went to Jamaica with our friends Gail & Kyle.

One of the days we took a bus trip to a place called Rick's Cafe which claims to be one of the Top 10 Best Bars in the World...so true drunks like us four couldn't resist.

The day started at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville on seven mile beach...but that's for another POD.  From there we went to Rick's Cafe which is also known for it's cliff diving.

Of course whenever Gail and Barbara get a chance to take a shot they are on top of the world.  The waitress walks around with these $1 shots and I'm not sure she ever passed these two where they didn't say...certainly we will have another one!

There were several places to cliff dive.  The first picture was only for the professionals and it was real high but I can't remember how high.  Then they had a platform where the customers could jump off that was about 35' in the air!  For all other takers the lower one is only about 10' but if you are like me you just watched from the table and drank a beer.

There was even a pool at this place along with some great local music.  Rick's is located in a cove and sightseeing boats come right up to the cove opening to watch the divers.

To top the day off you move to the other side of the bar (cliff) and watch the sunset.  Like most of you I have seen a million sunsets but when you are married to Barbara you just keep counting so now 1,000,001.  Actually it was pretty special and the boat going across the water made it even nicer.  Reminded me of a picture my Dad has from 4th Lake with him out on the boat.

I could see us spending a long time at this place and probably spending or drinking way more then we should but luckily we were on a time schedule because of the bus.  We bought a couple of
t-shirts, bought Gail & Barbara one more shot and left right after the sun went down.  For a minute I thought the girls were going to stay without us but they finally headed out the door.

Great place and a ton of fun...if it isn't on your bucket list it needs to be.  Hopefully this warmed you up a little as we head into winter.

  3. Sounds like one of the Tiki Bars we couldn't pass by when we were in the Florida Keys. They sure are relaxing and addictive.

She gets the sunset photos disease from her mother. If you ever need a sunset photo for your blog, let me know.
