Same tree new look

Well kids as you know your mother has been after me for years to get a new tree.  We can't remember exactly what year we bought it but we know we bought this one while we lived in Richmond, VA and we think it was 1989 or 1990...so the tree is 22 or 23 years old!  Compared to the new ones out there this one is a real pain to put up.

So last year I agreed to get a new one this year and we did go look at them but believe or not we couldn't find one that we liked.  We did learn that you can get 800-1,000 lights on them and that the number of tree tips are important.  Anyway we bought a couple new strings of lights and decided we would put up the old tree one more year!  BTW the picture below has 400 lights on it...not sure about the tree tips.

As I am sure you remember we love our tensile but this year your mother decided on something different and I think the tree turned out great.  So much so that we might just keep it around a few more years.  Plus as an added bonus all I had to do was put the tree up and put the lights on it.

Great job Barbara!  Enjoy.

Taylor sent me a picture of River in front of their tree so I decided to include it in this post.

  1. I love the new ribbon! Also, a perfect balance of ECU purple and gold but suppoting the Wolfpack with the red and white tree skirt. The boys would approve. What a perfect day to have River on the blog, today is his 1st birthday!! Tay & Sean

  2. How did Taylor get River to sit still long enough to take a picture? She must have an extremely high speed camera to get shot where it looks like River wasn't running at full speed. Happy Birthday River.

As usual, Barbara did a great job of decorating the tree. Does she remember it taking us a week to put all the old tinsel on the branches just so? Then having to take the tinsel off and save it for next year. I am sure we would still be doing this, except they quit making lead based tinsel a long time ago and we finally ran out of it.

  3. The tree may be old, but the tree skirt is even older. Gerry made it around 1987 while we lived in Costa Rica. It still looks great.
