Well kids as you will see today one of the major changes we made was from a solid roof to a pergola. For those that don't know a pergola is similar to a lattice roof and does a great job blocking the sun but you will get wet during a rain storm!
If you ever want to have some fun pull out a camera when there are a bunch of Mexicans working in your backyard!
We had to build a little deck in front of the kitchen since we needed to use the doors in the kitchen and Man's Room.
Problem #1...Your mother really wanted a large permanent eating table/bar which I liked but it is very expensive to do. Well being the great husband that I am I reluctantly agreed. The problem was the bar was too big(12' long) and we couldn't fit it properly since we shrunk the width of the patio from 20' wide to 16' wide to save some money on the project. We wanted to be able to sit people at the ends also and the post would be blocking them. We spent about 2 hours that night measuring, moving and drinking some wine trying to figure it out and finally came up with a solution. We added 2' back to the 16' and put the corner of the bar lined up with the corner of the post...you will get a better idea in the upcoming POD's.
Henry you are the MOST AMAZING husband! We did have fun that night solving the "problems of the yard" with what would be one of our last cocktails for a while! Thank GOD great minds think alike!! I think we'd all agree we came up with a great solution! Can't wait to use it!

The deck is looking super. I know you wanted something like this a long time ago and it's great that you guys are getting the new play area. I know you will love it when it's all done. Save me a seat and a cold Yuengling.
