Speed Street 1999

Well kids as you know Memorial Day weekend is a huge race weekend here in Charlotte.  One of the coolest events that the city does is Food Lion's Speed Street.  They close off a bunch of streets in downtown and there are food booths, drink booths, bands playing and just a ton of fun things.  It starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday night with fireworks!

This is not a yearly event for us but we have been about 5 times in the last 14 years or so.  This year we are planning on meeting Jared down there for some afternoon bonding time!

Today's pictures are from the first time we went in 1999.  We came down on Friday and spent the night with the Robinson's.  The four of us went and we met up with his parents downtown.  Tom had some connections and we were able to meet plenty of drivers while we were there.

Your mother had her picture taken with several of the drivers...not sure what kind of spell she put on them but anyone that she had her picture taken with was either killed or seriously hurt in a race car!
