July 4th weekend

Well kids July 4th had us scattered all over the place this year.  Sean & Taylor were at the beach, Stephanie, Shawn, Jared & Hannah were at the mountains and the rest of us poor people had to work so we were close to home.

The weekend started on Wednesday when Uncle Larry drove to SC to get fireworks for the 4th.  Your grandparents were there so they went along for the ride.

The big boss that grandpa is standing next to was over $600...they didn't buy this one!

Mom had to work a special event for Lowe's during the parade in Harrisburg.  Originally she was scheduled to be at work at 5am to help cook but then her manager said come at 6am which in her mind was a lot better.  All she had to do was work the parade so she was back home by 1pm.

From there we were off to see a movie...The Lone Ranger...we went to the matinee since it was only $5 and so we could get to Uncle Larry's early enough for dinner.  I enjoyed the movie a lot although there were some parts that I am not quite sure why they were in the movie.  They certainly made the Lone Ranger the dumb one of the pair but I am sure that is because Johnny Depp was playing Tonto.  Overall a good movie and worth it.  BTW we looked up the meanings of their names and there are a few...Tonto means "village idiot" or "fool" and Kemosabe means "Trusty Scout" but in the movie Tonto tells him it means "wrong brother"...you will get it once you see the movie.

From there we were off to Uncle Larry's and Jane's for a cookout and fireworks.  We had all the traditional fixings and the food was great.  Now it was time for the show.  There were tons of fireworks going off in their neighborhood which made Uncle Larry mad since he only bought ground fireworks...he vowed that next year will be different. 

 

We left right after the fireworks because it was getting to be after my bedtime and I had to work on Friday. 

This is your grandparents last weekend here so we got together with them on Friday night for some Chinese carryout and we will see them again today.  They are taking Grant with them for his RV trip and plan on going to Richmond for a few days then Maryland for a week or so then up to NY for a couple weeks. 

We did have a good weekend with plenty of visiting, eating, Nascar and as your grandfather says adult beverages.
