Shawn & Jared Birthday Weekend-Guest Blogger

Hi All!!!!  This is Stephanie hijacking the blog today!!!!  I’ve wanted to get my hands on the blog for quite some time now.  So here goes nothing…

Well kids last weekend we went to the mountains to celebrate Hunny’s (Shawn) and Jared’s birthday!  Shawn and I have been going to the mountains for many years to celebrate.  Melinda has a place in Marion NC which is about a 2 hour drive from Concord.  We try to get up there as much as possible however we always make it up for the birthday weekend.  Precious Hunny is 27 this year and Jared turned 24!!! 

Shawn and I went up on Wednesday night and got up there late so nothing exciting to report.  Thursday we got up and went to the grocery store, we needed to stock up on Champagne before Hannah got there. She has us addicted to champagne recently.  We just spent a lazy day on Thursday since it was cold and rainy.  Luckily we had some alcohol to keep us warm.

 

 

Friday Shelton (Shawn’s brother) got there first and then Jared and Hannah shortly after.  The sun came out for a little bit so we got to lay out and the boys worked on the “rock wall”.  The “Rock Wall” is something the boys have to work on every weekend they are there since it gets washed out with heavy rain.  The goal is to build-up the wall which makes the water deeper.  It keeps them busy for hours and then the girls get to lay out in piece.

 

As you can see a major improvement!!!  The rest of the evening we just played cards, built a fire and hung out.  Hunny cooked a boston butt in his smoker and we had some amazing BBQ!!!

On Saturday Taylor joined us and we all went to the bottom of the mountain to our favorite Winery.  Lake James Winery is a must stop every time we go to the mountains.  It’s also a nice perk that it’s attached to an antique store!!

 

Taylor was the only one of us girls to get fully submerged in the creek.  Hannah did get in to pee but that was it.  I for sure was not getting in the ice cold water. 

 

 

The boys shower in the creek every morning; they say it’s very refreshing!  Saturday night Hunny smoked some chicken breast for everyone and that is my personal favorite meal!!!

  

PS: We all brought our dogs up there and by Sunday they were worn out!!!

 

Once we got home Robert & Melinda came to visit and Shawn opened his presents...still goofing on the Hagadorn tradition!

It was a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to do it all over again!  Happy Birthday Hunny and Jared!!
