Spring Break 1996-St. Augustine Fort

Well kids today we went to the St. Augustine Fort which is named Castillo de San Marcos.  The fort was built in 1672 and is the oldest masonry fort in the United States.  As you can see the fort is located on the Matanzas Bay right in the city of St. Augustine.  The fort was turned into a National Monument in 1924 after 250 years of military possession...thank god for Google!

Certainly a pretty cool place to spend a couple hours exploring and worthy of the Bucket List!  The best part was there was a DQ in town that we stopped at on the way back to the RV.
