This particular June we took a vacation which included our annual trip to Myrtle Beach. We planned on going to the beach for a few days and then to Lake Gaston and once we got to Lake Gaston we were planning on buying a pontoon boat. Now this was a very busy week that started with the roof sealing that you saw yesterday, buying the boat, changing the dock and most importantly was the year that the Hurricanes went to the Stanley Cup and we scored tickets to see them play so we had to drive to Raleigh one night to watch that! Give it to Cole!!
Ok so today's POD is again watching Sean & Jared work while the rest of us watched. We had a lift on the dock but it was set up for our 2 jet ski's so we wanted to change it out for a pontoon lift. We did have a trailer for the jet ski's but we didn't have one for the pontoon since we bought it at a marina on the lake...BTW we didn't want a trailer either since there wouldn't have been anywhere to store it.
The boys did a great job and as you will see it was a tight fit but it worked and we loved it. We would lower the boat down to dock height when we were down there so if anyone wanted to they could sit in the shade.
I did a great job of giving directions and drinking beer! |
When people talk about getting a second place I always tell them that it is a lot of work to keep up two places and if you don't have some young boys to help it gets old quick but we had some great times, great memories, great fun and thank god Sean & Jared have great handyman abilities!!
Wow Sean & Jared sure were good helpers. I am sure the paybacks of skiing, tubing & all that stuff helped erase all the hard work. Loved the pontoon boat
ReplyDeleteI think it is a crying shame that Barbara made you sell the place on the lake and then the crowning blow was to make you sell the pontoon boat once you moved it to Lake Norman. You did take it like a man and have moved on from the pain, so that is good.
ReplyDeleteOr, you could substitute Barbara's name for yours and change the man part to woman and be closer to the truth. It's all in the telling of the story.
Seriously, you guys seemed to love the place but I know what it's like to keep up two places and getting it ready for the summer use each year. The older the places are, the more difficult it is to keep up.
